The actress Audrey Tautou - who is the new face of the French fragrance Chanel No. 5 - believes the classic perfume is the ultimate smell as it is so versatile.

She said: "For me, Chanel No. 5 is a legend in itself. You can wear it, offer it as a gift and share it, but it transcends all the women who have embodied the fragrance before me."

Audrey - who follows in the footsteps of Marilyn Monroe, Catherine Deneuve and Nicole Kidman as the face of No. 5 - also says she doesn't feel any pressure to emulate her predecessors and would prefer to concentrate on the history of the perfume.

She said: "I don't compare myself with these great actresses, I don't see myself as part of their lineage. I feel closer to the fragrance itself, its history and even (founder) Coco Chanel."

Audrey can currently be seen in new movie 'Coco avant Chanel', in which she plays Coco.

The film tells the story of the designer's rise in the fashion industry.
