Easter traditions in Schwitzerland

On Easter Sunday, of anyage can roam the nooks and crannies of St. Gallen's Old Town and participate in Switzerland's largest Easter egghunt.

At 8 o clock in the morning, the starting gun will be fired in front of theWaaghaus on the Market Square. That means finding as quickly as possible between one and ten of the 4,000 plastic eggs in the pedestrian zone. The more successful the finder is, the more chocolate, donated by the Munz company, he or she will receive at the end of the egg hunt. Whoever finds the proverbial needle in the haystack, in this case, one of the 25 "Golden Eggs" hidden between the pavement and the doorsteps in the Stiftsbezirk (CollegiateChurch District) and Waaghaus, will receive a tour prize. The traditional boiled Easter egg, as well as delicious coffee and cake will be served, free of charge. To round out the event, visitors can head to the special exhibition "AllerleiEier" ("All kinds of Eggs") in St. Gallen's Natural History Museum and admire one of nature's mostingenious "packages".

Otherwise you can also enjoy regional specialities from the Bernese Oberland in the Sillerenbühl Restaurant situated in the mountains.
